Test Format
The total test duration is approximately 2 hours, divided into three main sections:
- Speaking & Writing (76-84 minutes)
This section assesses your ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. - Reading (23-30 minutes)

PTE Scoring System
The PTE Academic uses an AI-based scoring system, which ensures fast, accurate, and objective results. The score report includes an overall score along with scores for four communicative skills: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing.
Overall Score Range
The overall score is calculated based on a student’s performance across the entire test. During the (PTE Academic) exam, students typically answer 65–75 questions covering approximately 22 different question types. The overall score ranges from 10 to 90 points.
Universities and immigration authorities usually set their own minimum score requirements, depending on the program, institution, or visa category.
Communicative Skills Scores
In addition to the overall score, the test evaluates four communicative skills:
- Listening
- Reading
- Speaking
- Writing
Each of these skills is scored on a scale of 10 to 90 points, allowing students to clearly understand their strengths and areas where improvement may be needed.
Enabling Skills
PTE Academic also evaluates several enabling skills that support overall language ability. These include grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, oral fluency, spelling, and written discourse. PTE Score Availability

Students can access their scores through their myPTE portal and they will also receive an email notification when the results are ready.
Score Validity
PTE Academic scores are valid for two years from the test date. Students can download their official PDF score report once their results are available.
PTE Test Registration and Fee
Students who wish to take the PTE Academic in Nepal must register online through the official Pearson PTE website. During registration, test-takers can select their preferred test date, time, and center.
Registration Fee
The current PTE test fee in Nepal is USD $220, excluding bank charges or applicable taxes. The exact fee may vary based on the current exchange rate, and payment is made via international debit/credit cards or supported online payment methods.
Sending PTE Scores to Universities
Once your results are released, you can easily send your scores to universities and institutions through your myPTE account. The portal is secure, user-friendly, and allows you to send your score reports to an unlimited number of institutions free of charge.
